Sometimes you stay up until 5 in the morning rewatching the Fades.
As much as I enjoyed adored the show the first time around, I love it even more now. I definitely gleaned more from it this time too, and have lots to say about it, maybe more than I did before, but all I can immediately take away is that Anna is my favorite Lily Loveless character (sorry not sorry Naomi Campbell). I already knew Paul and Anna’s mother was terrible (and on my second watch-through she honestly came away worse), but at the end of the fourth episode she’s sniping to the doctor in the ICU “She’s never there for me when I need her” when Anna doesn’t show up to see her brother taken off life support, as though that is why Anna should be there, as though this is not some big traumatic event for Anna too (never mind that while this is happening Anna is actually going along with her brother’s best friend and two random people she has never met on the off-chance they can bring her brother’s ghost back to life).
Then in the next episode we see Anna attending a party for her now-recovered brother, and bashing her boyfriend over the head with a fire extinguisher to save her brother, and rescuing hostages when Paul and Mac are initially too caught up talking to do it themselves, all while coping with her basic understanding of the universe being turned upside because there are GHOSTS and ZOMBIES and shit running around and worse yet, her best friend is a library aide.
But yeah, Anna’s really unreliable and selfish.
(Also:
—with it appearing they are about to be eaten by zombies—
Mac: If you could be any character in any film, who would you be?
Anna: Character LIVING PERSON in the film I DON’T WANT TO DIE HERE)
