I wanted to a side-by-side comparison but couldn’t find the right shot of Libby to do so.
Isn’t Britney’s look here in the video for “Circus” obviously “inspired” by Libby from Carnivale? Circa whenever episode it is when she goes blonde and only wears a nightie? Definitely by season 2. It seems so blatant. Not that I’m complaining. Love Libby.

Bon Iver - “Blood Bank”
A brand new song (and four song EP of the same name) from Bon Iver. While For Emma explores the cold that often accompanies the loneliness of winter, “Blood Bank” takes a juxtaposing perspective, exploring the warmth that can be found in each other - in relationships - as we all begin to naturally retreat to a more nestive time of the year (well at least where those of us feel the cold of winter).
The genesis of Bon Iver is the cabin for which Justin Vernor named the project. You can almost picture much of his music taking place in the Wisconsin woods, as well the relationships that his songs often describe. There’s a calming quality to his songwriting, similar to the peace found in the middle of a night time snowfall.
That secret that you know
That you don’t know how to tell
It fucks with your honor
And it teases your head
But you know that its good girl
Cuz its running through you with thread
Then the snow started falling
We were stuck out in your car
You were rubbing both my hands
Chewing on a candybar
Saying it was just like a present
To be showing up like this
As the moon waned to crescent
We started to kiss
And I said I know it well
That secret that we know
But we don’t know how to tell
I’m in love with your honor
I’m in love with your cheeks
What’s that noise up the stairs babe?
Is that Christmas morning?
I know it well.

Harry and the Potters, “Meet Me Under the Mistletoe”
This is one of my favorite Christmas songs ever.
“All the girls at Hogwarts are trying to poison me with chocolate caldrons
But you and me, Ginny, we don’t need any love potions!
All the magic that we need is under the mistletoe!
Ginny, won’t you meet me this year under the mistletoe?
Ginny, won’t you meet me this year, uh huh?”
We made out one hot summer night under the stars at Franklin Park
We got busted by the cops: you can’t hang out there after dark
That summer we hung out everyday
We wrote a short story about a Big Dig worker
Who found a buried treasure deep under Back Bay
And spent all the money to have his wife murdered

The Secrets, “The Loneliest Duet”
I hate when I get into bands post-break-up. Thanks for not existing since at least January 2003, Paul DeGeorge and company. YOU SHOULD BUY THEIR EP. It’s $5.
